Krav Maga Ne’emanei Imi was established in1987 by James Keenan, a direct student of Imi Lichtenfeld, the founder of Krav Maga, and is the oldest Krav Maga school in New England, and one of the three oldest schools on the East Coast. The Seacoast Dojo, located in Portsmouth, NH is headed by Joseph Estee, a Master level instructor who has trained within Mr. Keenan’s system since 1995.

Classes are taught directly by Mr. Estee and his black belt level instructors. Class structure focuses on situational self-defense and combative principles. Students are guided through a variety of attack and self-defense scenarios, learning how to deal with them quickly and effectively using principles and proven techniques from the Israeli combat system of Krav Maga created by Imi Lichtenfeld. All training takes place in a SAFE and CONTROLLED environment, as the safety of the student is the primary focus for the class.

This is not an exercise class, nor does it have any element of sport. The focus of this class is to teach the system and principles of self-defense.

No previous experience or special equipment necessary, and classes are open to all levels, from beginners to advanced.

Baguazhang (Eight Trigrams Palm) is a lively and fascinating practice that emphasizes moving around and engaging in highly interactive relationships. Bagua has its own sets of forms, weapons, and animal practices. Bagua is quick and mobile and can be an excellent source of an aerobic workout.

Yang style Taijiquan is the most popular and widely practiced style of taiji in the world today. The founder of Yang-style was Yang Lu-Ch’an aka Yang Fu-k’ui (1799-1872) who studied under Ch’en Chang-hsing in 1820. Yang became a teacher in his own right, and his subsequent expression of t'ai chi ch'uan became known as the Yang-style, and directly led to the development of other three major styles of t'ai chi ch'uan. Master Zhang Luping used to say that Yang style was the easiest one for beginners to develop power and it seems to be true. There are many different kinds of Yang style, long and short. Yang style is a good style for someone just starting out whose body is not in very good shape yet.
