About Craig Nelson

Mr. Nelson began his martial arts study in 1991 under Ron Matthews where his initial focus was on the Chinese internal arts of Taijiquan and Baguazhang, as well as Okinawan Isshinryu karate. Over the past thirty years, Mr. Nelson has continued to practice and teach these systems as well as others including Chi Gung, Krav Maga, and pressure point fighting.

In addition to his study and dedication to martial arts, Mr. Nelson also honored his country by running with the Olympic torch for the 2002 games. He has also run the Boston Marathon and competed in several international Ironman Triathlons, as well as the track and field Iron-runner series in 1999.

Mr. Nelson has served with his community’s emergency response team which deals with significant and deadly industrial accidents for twenty five years, ten years of which as it’s captain.

 Okinawan Isshinryu Karate

Holding a Godan rank (fifth-degree black belt), Mr. Nelson is both a practitioner and instructor certified by the Traditional Isshinryu Karatedo Association (TIKA). He embarked on his Isshinryu journey in 1991, training under the guidance of Ron Matthews.
